History

AIRNAUTIC AG was registered on 21 February 1958 with the Register of Commerce in Basel, by its founder and present president of the board, Léon Meier.

Originally its business activities included the representation of Airlines and Steamship Companies for cargo and passengers and Air Charter Brokerage.

In 1992 the successful steamship department was sold to its managers, who created a new independent company. This enabled AIRNAUTIC AG to concentrate all its activities on Air Transportation. Later the passenger activities were given up, allowing to specialize on AIR CARGO only.

The following chapters will therefore only highlight some of the passed Air Cargo activities:

The first Airline represented in 1958 was SEABOARD & WESTERN, which was operating with 10 Super Constellations scheduled for Transatlantic Flights. AIRNAUTIC AG became responsible for the Basel Airport and its sales region. In 1961 the name of the airline was changed to SEABOARD WORLD AIRLINES and the new CL44 freighters with the swing tail have been ordered.

TMA TRANS MEDITERRANEAN AIRWAYS, Beirut, was the first freighter airline flying to Basel in 1955. When they had to reorganize their freight operations, AIRNAUTIC AG became their GSA in Basel. With their fleet of DC4, DC6 and later CL44 aircraft they had a wide network to the Middle East, which was supplemented by Sea-Air Services via Beirut.

BRITISH AIR FERRIES Southend (previously Channel Air Bridge).
We had successfully suggested to BAF the selection of Southend-Basel and Southend-Geneva for the Car Ferry Service to be operated with the CARVAIR (converted DC4) which carried up to 5 cars or cargo plus 22 passengers in the rear. It was an ideal aircraft to carry also large machines with up to 4.5 tons. Later the name of the airline was changed to British United Air Ferries, when it was taken over by BUA.

PAN AM. Up to the close down of this company, AIRNAUTIC AG used to represent them in Switzerland for their flights ex ZRH / GVA.

In its long history of more than 50 years, AIRNAUTIC AG also has also been able to participate in the various developments of Air Cargo Charters as a Charter Broker / Wholesaler. As such we started cooperations with different other airlines.
